Working principle of high vacuum hot press furnace

06-24-2025       Author: KJ technology

The working principle of a high vacuum hot press furnace is mainly based on applying pressure to induce metallurgical bonding between particles in a high-temperature and high vacuum environment, thereby achieving material densification and forming. Specifically, its working principle can be divided into the following key steps:

1. Creating a vacuum environment: Through a vacuum system, equipment such as oil diffusion pumps, Roots pumps, and mechanical pumps are used to extract air from the furnace, creating a low or high vacuum environment. This process is beneficial for removing volatile impurities and gases from the material, preventing the formation of surface oxidation layers, and creating favorable conditions for subsequent high-temperature sintering.

2. High temperature heating: Resistance heating or induction heating is used to heat the materials inside the furnace through heating elements such as graphite, molybdenum, tungsten, etc. At high temperatures, the solid particles of the raw material are bonded to each other, the grains grow, and the voids and grain boundaries gradually decrease.

3. Apply pressure: The pressure head driven by the oil cylinder applies pressure to the materials inside the furnace, accelerating the transfer of substances and causing the total volume of the materials to shrink, resulting in an increase in density. The application of pressure can promote close contact and metallurgical bonding between particles, improving the density and strength of materials.

4. Hot pressing and sintering: Under the combined action of high temperature and pressure, materials undergo hot pressing and sintering processes. Through the transfer of matter and metallurgical bonding between particles, the material ultimately becomes a dense polycrystalline sintered body with a certain microstructure.

5. Control system regulation: The entire working process is precisely regulated by the control system, including the setting and control of parameters such as temperature, pressure, and vacuum degree. The control system can ensure that the equipment operates under safe conditions and achieve one click start for fully automated operation.
