Application of High Vacuum Hot Pressing Furnace in Ceramic Industry

06-24-2025       Author: KJ technology

The application of high vacuum hot pressing furnace in the ceramic industry is mainly reflected in the preparation and processing of advanced ceramic materials. The following analysis is conducted from specific application cases, technical advantages, application fields, etc.:

1. Specific application cases

Sintering of silicon nitride ceramics:

Silicon nitride ceramic material is an important advanced ceramic material, and its preparation process requires a high temperature and high pressure environment to promote densification. The high vacuum hot press furnace effectively prevents the oxidation of silicon nitride at high temperatures by providing high temperature and pressure in a vacuum environment, thereby improving the thermal conductivity and mechanical properties of the sintered body. For example, research has used hot pressing sintering to prepare silicon nitride ceramic materials with thermal conductivity ranging from 82W/m · K to 129W/m · K, with a bending strength of up to 1149MPa.

Sintering of boron carbide ceramics:

Boron carbide ceramics are compounds with strong covalent bonds, which have slow sintering diffusion rates and minimal material flow at high temperatures, making the densification process very difficult. The high vacuum hot press furnace promotes the densification of boron carbide ceramics by applying high pressure and providing a high temperature environment. Research has shown that the relative density of boron carbide ceramics can reach 91.6% after 10 minutes of hot pressing sintering at 2150 ℃.

Preparation of alumina ceramics:

High vacuum hot pressing furnace can also be used for the preparation of alumina ceramics. By introducing additives and using hot pressing technology, fine-grained and high-strength alumina ceramics can be prepared. For example, a study has obtained alumina ceramics with a grain size of 0.5 μ m and a bending strength of 500MPa by hot pressing at 1450 ℃.

2. Technical advantages

Prevent oxidation:

The high vacuum environment effectively avoids the oxidation reaction of ceramic materials at high temperatures, improving the purity and performance of the materials.

Promote densification:

The high temperature and high pressure environment promotes the close contact and metallurgical bonding between ceramic particles, improving the density and mechanical properties of the material.

Precise control:

The high vacuum hot press furnace has a precise temperature and pressure control system, which can achieve fine adjustment and monitoring of the sintering process, ensuring the consistency of product quality.

3. Application Fields

Preparation of high-performance ceramics:

High vacuum hot press furnaces are widely used in the preparation of high-performance ceramics such as silicon nitride, boron carbide, and aluminum oxide, meeting the demand for high-performance ceramic materials in aerospace, automotive, electronics, and other fields.

Ceramic based composite materials:

In the preparation of ceramic matrix composites, high vacuum hot pressing furnaces also play an important role. By introducing reinforcing phases and using hot pressing technology, ceramic based composite materials with excellent mechanical and thermal properties can be prepared.

Ceramic component processing:

The high vacuum hot press furnace can also be used for the processing and repair of ceramic components, such as ceramic bearings, ceramic cutting tools, etc. Through hot pressing technology, densification and shape repair of ceramic components can be achieved.
