How thick material can be brazed in a vacuum aluminum brazing furnace?

The thickness range of materials that can be brazed in a vacuum aluminum brazing furnace is wide, from plates as thin as 0.5mm or less to workpieces as thick as 20mm or even thicker, but the process parameters need to be adjusted according to the thickness. The specific explanation is as follows:

Thin plate welding: For thin-walled parts below 0.5mm, welding is difficult and prone to problems such as burning through. At this point, pulse heating can be used and a 580 ℃ preheating platform can be set up to control heat input and avoid local overheating.

Conventional thickness welding: For aluminum materials with a thickness of 10-20mm, special attention should be paid to the selection of clamping force and clamping point spacing during welding. The clamping torque is generally selected between 0.6 and 0.8 N · m to ensure a tight fit between the base material and the brazing material, while avoiding damage to the welding surface and fixture. The spacing between clamping points is generally selected to be 3-5cm to ensure welding quality and control welding deformation.

Thick plate welding: For thicker aluminum materials, such as workpieces exceeding 20mm, the clamping force should be appropriately increased during welding, and the insulation time may need to be increased to ensure uniform heating of the workpiece. Meanwhile, due to the low hardness of thick plates during the welding process, the weight of the welded parts cannot be ignored. Therefore, the placement of the welded parts in the vacuum brazing furnace also has a significant impact on the welding quality.

Welding of large-sized components: For large-sized components, segmented brazing may be required, with adjacent areas overlapping by 20mm and temperature gradients set to ensure welding quality.
